HOW CRAFTS
DA VINCI CENTER
ARTISTIC DIRECTION · HOSTHOW CRAFTS is a three-part series created, curated, and hosted for Tel Aviv Da Vinci, Culture Center, dedicated to contemporary local craft artists who have forged their own artistic language. The series turns the spotlight not only on what artists create, but also on how -the intimate, often unseen processes that shape their work. Each encounter brought together a pair of artists who demonstrated their process in real time while engaging in an open conversation, offering the audience an unfiltered view into the “how” behind their work.
Studio visits have always been moments of quiet revelation for me, stepping into the space where art takes shape, listening to the subtle dialogue between hand, material, and intention. This project emerged from my desire to share that barefoot, intimate experience with a wider audience: to bring the immediacy, curiosity, and depth of the studio into a public setting.
The series unfolded across three meetings, hosting six artists who expanded the meaning of contemporary craft:
Liora Kaplan, Talia Mukmel, Yael Harnik, Miki Ohana, Maayan Elyakim, and Ofir Haleli.
Each pairing revealed a different constellation of practices: ceramics, textiles, object-making, and hybrid forms- presented not as finished works but as living, evolving processes.
How Crafts became a space where craft was not explained but experienced, allowing audiences to witness artistic language as it is formed: through gesture, material, conversation, and presence.
